Development
Vocational
Development services are designed to assess the individual's employment
capability; assist the individual in attaining his/her maximum
vocational potential; and assist the individual in obtaining and retaining
suitable employment. These goals are attained through the following activities:
Vocational Evaluation:
This phase may last from 2 to 4 weeks and is intended to be a learning
experience for both client and staff. This phase is used to assess the
individual's employment
capabilities and to provide them and the sponsoring agent with vocational
diagnostic information and service recommendations.
Work Adjustment Training:
This phase may last from 1 to 50 weeks and is a transitional treatment/training
service or program utilizing individual and group work or work-related
activities.
It is provided on an organized, systematic basis to assist individuals
in understanding
the meaning, value, and demands of work; to motivate or develop attitudes,
personal characteristics, and work behavior; and to develop functional
capacities, as required, in order to assist individuals towards their
optimum level of vocational development.
Placement Training:
This phase is a systematic sequence of instruction with a curriculum that,
when
individually planned and applied, develops appropriate skills and knowledge
to assist
the individual to identify, obtain, and retain competitive employment,
commensurate with his/her vocational goals.
Skills Training:
This phase is a systematic sequence of instruction with a formalized curriculum
that
when individually applied, develops appropriate skills and knowledge for
a specific occupation objective.
